2018 Vintage
A winemaker’s dream vintage! 2018 will most likely be remembered as the vintage of decade; some already call it Napa’s vintage of the century.
2018 was the largest harvest in Napa and California’s history, surprisingly it did also yield some of the highest quality Cabernet Sauvignon grapes ever harvested.
Vineyard
Rutherford AVA is one of the most influential regions of Napa’s history. It is located in the heart of the Valley with moderately warm climate that is still marginally influenced by early morning fog.
Our single vineyard is located right off the famous CA-Route 29. Rutherford is most famous for its unique “terroir” influence on the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, also known as “Rutherford Dust”.
V1-V2-V3 Concept
Every vintage, I have the privilege to witness the vines’ grape cycle and decide when to harvest them. We sort the Cabernet grapes by hand, we gently crush them and naturally ferment them into wine. The young wine is then put into oak barrels to enrich the taste and character of the wine. The optimum time spent in oak before we bottle it is wildly subjective and ultimately a personal choice. *With V1- V2- V3, you have the opportunity to be your own cellar master and experience the aging development of this batch from the comfort of your home.
V1: 12months oak aging. V2: 18 months. V3: 24 months
Tasting Notes
2018 was one of the best vintages of all time. The fruit character on the nose of V1 is bright, youthful, concentrated and of complex. On the palate, the tenacity of the flavors indicate that the wine is ready to drink. Decanting it is highly recommended if you are like too impatient to cellar it like Keith(dad). Currently the palette boasts layers of dark cherries, cola, spice and cacao but expect other flavors to emerge with time, tobacco, leather, dark chocolate and mocha to name a few.
