The Vice, Pinot Noir, 2018
Carneros, Napa Valley
Bruce Wayne’s Batch #17
“Blessed with ideal growing conditions, Napa’s 2018 vintage will be remembered for its exceptional quality. 2018 was also the year of the dog, so we named this batch after our assistant winemaker @Brucewaynethepuppy. Although he slept most of its growing season, his presence in the cellar was critical for crafting this world class Pinot Noir.”
Located north of Carneros, on the Napa Valley side, right on the foothills of Mount Veeder and Mayacamas mountains. The soil is volcanic and its farming is organic.
Carneros is one of the first independent American Viticultural Area (AVA). In 1983, it was defined an AVA by its unique micro-climate than its political boundaries. Carneros (Los Carneros) unique cool climate is mainly influenced by the cooling effect of the Pacific Ocean, San Pablo and San Francisco Bay.
A winemaker’s dream vintage! Consistent growing conditions and cooler summer temperatures allowed the grapes to slowly mature in 2018. Harvest across Napa Valley was generous with record yields yet some of the highest quality fruit ever harvested.
In Carneros, this immensely successful 2018 harvest gifted us the best Pinot Noir grapes we could wish for.
2018 BruceWayne’s Pinot Noir jumps off the glass with aromas of berry bramble, mulberry with hints of lilac and violet. The palate is round and generous with layers of mouth-enveloping ripe berries, rhubarb, dried cherries and equally imposing tannins. This is an especially muscular style of Napa Pinot. All the elements meld together effortlessly with secondary flavors of bittersweet chocolate and Provence herbs that lead into a long, silky and smooth finish.
