The Vice Pinot Noir Rosé, 2018, Batch #10
A winemaker’s dream vintage. Consistent growing conditions and cooler temperatures allowed the grapes to slowly mature in 2018. Harvest across Napa Valley was generous with above average yields and high quality fruit. In Carneros, this immensely successful 2018 harvest gifted us the best Pinot Noir grapes we could wish for.
Our Pinot Noir is sourced from a single vineyard in Carneros, Napa Valley overlooking San Pablo Bay. Our Biodynamic vineyard is known for its cool microclimate, which is regulated by the fog and breezes from the bay. It is an ideal spot for Pinot Noir.
Harvest & Fermentation
Our Pinot Noir grapes were vigilantly grown for the purpose of making a dry rosé. The grapes were handpicked in late August at low Brix then hand sorted. Only the finest grapes made it to press. 65% of the grapes were direct press providing acidity and elegance. 35% came through the saignée method tallying fruit and complex structure. Native yeast fermentation to complete dryness took place and left no residual sugar in this rosé. We let it rest for 2 months on its fine lees before we bottled it on November 28th, 2018.
When enjoyed young, Batch #10 rosé of Pinot Noir in a glass flirts with berry aromas a and floral bouquet. Take it for a swirl, it first strikes crisp and mineral, then it turns playful with an elegant long fruity finish; that sometimes can only lead to another swirl. This is why we called it The Vice.
If you have the opportunity to rest this Napa Valley rosé in your cellar, the enjoyment of this Pinot Noir is to remain for years to come.
