The Vice, Cabernet Sauvignon, Single Vineyard

Spring Mountain, 2017

Batch #16

“Batch #16 is our 4th Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon release of 2019. Nested above the clouds in the Spring Mountain District of Napa, this batch conveys mountain fruit character that’s unique to its terroir. Powerful and energetic, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is a testament of the diverse World Class character, that only Napa Valley has.”

2017 Vintage

A wild vintage! The year began with abundant rainfall following a historic five years of drought. Three heat waves during summer led us to harvest in mid-September; and fortunately spared us from the smoke taint from the nearby wildfires that ravaged the region starting October 8th.

Vineyard

Located in Spring Mountain District, in the Mayacamas Mountain range, at 2,100 feet of elevation. This vineyard was first established at the turn of the 20thCentury and replanted 100% Cabernet Sauvignon in 1995. The cooler temperatures and the harshness that mountain fruits have to endure during the growing season, gift us a powerful wine that has depth, complexity and intensity that’s unique to its terroir.

Tasting Notes

Dense, dark and burly, with expressive dried berry notes, cocoa, cedar and a hint of cigar box scent. On the palate, this Single Vineyard wine greets with a full-bodied richness, that’s chewy and ripe. Layers of chocolate, dark berry compote, forest floor and tobacco leaf are well integrated with its massively tannic core. The finish is so rich and long, confirming that this wine is a big Napa Cab.

Enjoy it now, life is short… but this Cab has plenty of energy for decades to come if cellaring is your lifetime joy.
